Full Body Support From Head to Toe!

The Inflatable BackMax® is a 3 piece wedge system which can be used to lay you down in the 0* gravity position which helps aid circulation, but also can be arranged and zippered apart for various support positions. Whether you like to relax in bed laying down or stomach support while you read or just to elevate your legs, the Inflatable BackMax® has the position for you.

Whether you are relaxing, exercising, reading, or sleeping, the Inflatable BackMax® offers support for your pain points from your back, legs or feet.

Stomach Support

When laying on your stomach, the Contour Inflatable BackMax® relieves strain and tension on the lower back by allowing the spine to maintain its natural curve and back muscles are able to relax.

Leg Elevation

By elevating your legs, it's been noted that it helps aid circulation. Great for those suffering from edema or other forms of swelling.

The foot rest is another great way to elevate your legs and feet which helps improve support for any swollen feet.

Upright Seated Position

When using the Inflatable BackMax® backrest in the upright position, it offers ultimate support for reading, watching TV, eating, nursing, plus much more.

Elevated Head Position

As many doctors have noted that many patients suffer at least once a month from gastrointestinal problems. The Inflatable BackMax® allows sufferers to rest and relax more comfortably by gently elevating them as opposed to someone laying flat.

Zero-Gravity Position

If you opt for full body support, and use all 3 wedges and lay in the standard position, you are then placing your body in the 120 degree angle position. Many refer to this position as the “zero-stress” or “zero-gravity” position. This positions helps relieve tension and lower back strain allowing the muscles and ligaments to relax.

NASA Astronauts are seated in the same zero-gravity position during liftoff to help minimize the pressure on their body.

  1. Great Option for Travel 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 7th Sep 2016)

I need to sleep in a more upright position due to esophageal cancer surgery. Travel always presented a problem. My only option before finding this product was to have Amazon ship a folding chair to my destination. I have even carried the chair on trains in France. I have taken 2 trips this year with the Backmax inflatables, and it has worked perfectly. I purchased a battery powered air pump to replace the included one for 220v countries. I could not be more pleased with this product. It takes a little trail and error to find your desired firmness. I find that not completly iflated the most comfortable for me. make sure you play around with firmness a little bit.

  2. 40. Inflatable BackMax Is A Little Too Big 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 19th Jul 2016)

This a comfortable alternative to the regular Backmax. I think the cushions should be a little smaller. It is difficult to get into and out of. I mean height wise.

    Customer Service Response:
I am glad you are enjoying your Inflatable BackMax, I do want to point out though as you mentioned the wedges being to high, that because it is inflatable you can more or less adjust the height of it depending on how full you fill the wedge.

  3. I can sleep in my bed again! 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 25th Apr 2016)

This product has enabled me to sleep in bed again. Because of a heart condition I need an elevated incline which I have not been able to find until I tried this product. Works great for me.

  4. Finally, relief while traveling! 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 11th Feb 2016)

Finally I have a wedge system that puts me at the right angle to take the pressure off my lower back when traveling. At home I sleep in a hospital bed. Normally I have to use wedges, an air mattress and many pillows and I still wake up with a backache! This system is great! The only flaws...it losses air during the night and it is too narrow. I wish they still offered the 28" wedges. I feel like I'm balancing on a beach ball! Overall a win!

  6. Great Contour quality as expected! 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 29th Jan 2016)

I already owned the foam version of the Back Max but needed a travel version that would fit into a standard airline-size suitcase. I had my doubts that an inflatable could provide equal comfort and back stability, but thankfully my doubts were put to rest (pun intended). This is an incredible value that provides customized support with a cleverly designed double-valve system that allows easy inflation and rapid deflation. No skimping on the pump - this thing is powerful and solid quality. Five stars is not enough for this product!

  7. It is a God send 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 29th Jan 2016)

For years we have been having to haul a foam pad and small bean bag chairs to get a reclining position. We had almost stopped wanting to go places because of the trouble and embarrassment.

We now have gotten 2 of different sizes. Both of them are inflatable. I love the added pump that also deflates the sections completely. There is also a storage bag that it all fits in.

We are going on a cruise and feel so much freer not having to lug foam.
I bought the wider one and use that in the back of the van to help raise up my feet and help my back.
    So far, I love it.

  8. It works but... 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 29th Jan 2016)

It works. It has really helped my GERD and lower back. That said, it could be better.
    1. Comfort: You are going to sleep on your back, there is no other way and the surface is not that comfortable. Why not have a 2 inch memory foam topper available?
    2. Width: I got the 28" wide and I wish I had gotten the 42" wide, because I wind up off the pillow each night.
    3. Zipper: Replace the zipper with velcro
and engineer it so that you can alter the the relative positions of the back and leg rest.
    4. Height:If you are going to sleep on it as I do, it really doesn't work to place it on a bed- too high. Have an optional inflatable "box spring" about 20 " high for the 42' wide.
Would I buy it again? You bet!

  9. Beach ball 2 Star Review

    (Submitted on 29th Jan 2016)

Unfortunately I ordered the inflatable model instead of the foam model. The inflatable model with the fleece covering feels like you are sleeping on a beach ball. I tried different amounts of air pressure but after a few minutes the lounger was very uncomfortable to my upper back. Also being a plastic ballon with the most minimum amount of fleece they could possibly use the lounger does not breath at all, leaving your back all sweaty after a few minutes. I liked the shape and position. I think that the foam and fabric model would be much better.

  10. Good for travel 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 29th Jan 2016)

I have been sleeping on the foam BackMax for about 4 years and love it. I was so glad to see an inflatable version because I often want to take mine with me when I travel, but it is just too big and cumbersome. I have only used the inflatable once so far. It took a while to find the right level of inflation. If it’s too inflated it is not comfortable at all. I found it to be cold when I slept on it without anything between me and the bed. Next time I will try covering the BackMax with a warm blanket and see if that helps. I look forward to being able to take this bed with me when I travel to see friends and family over the holidays.

  11. GOOD PRODUCT BUT**** 3 Star Review

  12. Decent but needs getting used to... 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 28th Jan 2016)

This is a great and easy product to use. My husband recently had abdomen surgery with a 5 inch incision. Because he was sore and stiff, it was hard for him to get up and down. Eventually is caused his incision to start draining again because of the effort. We varied the air levels to see if would make any difference. It worked better for him with less air (more comfortable too) but in the end, we will have to wait until his incision is healed better. Typically my husband is in pretty good shape, not an athlete, but active. We were excited to get this product because it was so much like a hospital bed without the mechanics. And for the most part it is, but if you've had stomach surgery, be careful. I would recommend this product with with that warning.
The product is made well, easy instructions, and is definitely sturdy. When he is not using it, I will probably get some use out of it myself. Note: we got the 28" style and one a king bed it took up half. On a queen or smaller, it would be tight for another person to be in bed. Hope this helps!

  13. Finally good sleep away from home! 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on 27th Jan 2016)

My husband has a bad back, sleeps in an adjustable bed at home. Whenever we went away on vacation, I always tried to find something with a recliner so he could sleep (he can't lay flat). This is wonderful, lets him sleep and is portable. Perfect. So glad I find it.

  14. My Second BackMax - This is Great! 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 27th Jan 2016)

My first BackMax was the one made from support foam. The first night I used it was the first time I slept through the night in a year due to back pain. The only problem with this version is that it was so slender their was no room for your arms. I had to use pillows on both sides to support my arms as the height of the pillow would leave your arms just hanging. It is also a pain to pack and takes up a great deal of room to transport.
This second one was the inflatable version which is wonderful for travel. The fact that it folds up to about 12 x 17 x 7 inches makes it easy to put in a suitcase or even mail ahead of time to your destiny. It can be inflated to the firmness you desire. It is wider than the first version and your arms fit on it without the need of extra pillows on the side. I will keep both of them but will definitely take the inflatable one for travel. If it holds up as well as expected, I will be selling the original.

  15. Great comfort after my esophagectomy 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 27th Jan 2016)

I love this product. The removal of my esophagus means I cannot lie flat on my back. I have a wedge my daughter bought for me but I kept on sliding down the wedge. The Inflatable BackMax Cushion works much better than the couch cushions I improvised. The first two Inflatable BackMax Cushion had a leak in the middle section (I only weigh 147 lbs. and they were replaced under warrantee by Amazon) I am going to purchase a foam version for home and use the inflatable for traveling.

  16. great for tall/big back pain sufferers 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 27th Jan 2016)

I am thrilled to be able to sleep in my travel trailer with NO BACK PAIN in the morning. the 42" wide inflatable version is the closest thing to my adjustable bed at home and fits even my 6'2" 280 lb frame.

  17. I thought this would be great for travel 2 Star Review

    (Submitted on 26th Jan 2016)

I have slept on the regular Backmax for about 4 years and I love it. I put it right on top of any bed. Certain new events in my life have required that I travel a lot and I didn't want to haul my regular Backmx around since it takes up so much room in the car, so I ordered this inflatable version. One problem for me is that it is very hard to get the proper inflation. If it too inflated it is hard and unyielding, if it is under inflated it's sloppy and hard to move around on. I've found that it is ok for camping if I under inflate it and sleep in a sleeping bag, but I have a really hard time with it if I try to put it on a bed as I do with my regular Backmax. It also causes unusual temperature problems similar to other inflatable beds; it can be cold, but also cause you to sweat. I have found myself taking my regular Backmax when I drive. I don't know what I'll do when I need to fly. I might try taking the inflatable or I'll just make due with whatever bed I have to sleep in and have a sore back.

  18. Worked For Me 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 25th Jan 2016)

I bought this product to travel out of the country. I have not been able to sleep in a bed for 7 years so I can only sleep in a recliner. This product worked PERFECT for me and allowed me to travel to Brazil for a wedding. I filled the back support mostly full, the center section about half full and the bottom section about 75% full. This worked for me and what I needed to be comfortable. I slept through the night and no back ache in the morning... Highly recommend

  19. Great Sleep 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on 25th Jan 2016)

I sleep in a recliner every night. Bought this to take on a trip. Blow it up each night in the hotel. Only takes a few minutes. Infates in no time. I've been sleeping like a rock. Love this thing
