The CPAPmax Next generation Pillow Story: While the original Contour CPAP Pillow has been incredibly successful in addressing mask interference issues, our goal with the CPAPmax Pillow was to create a pillow for sleep apnea patients that not only performs better, but is also more comfortable than most traditional pillows. The pillow's dual sided design features fiber on one side and memory foam on the other, which appeals to a broad spectrum of consumer preferences. One challenge that we faced in utilizing these popular materials was insuring that proper support and stability was maintained so that the integrity of the pillow's CPAP mask pockets stayed intact. We were able to stabilize the memory foam and fiber material by inserting a center layer of high resiliency foam to provide form, support, and relief from comfort issues. Additionally, heat build-up, often an issue with CPAP patients who use humidified air, was resolved with a unique perforation process that ventilates all the way through the pillow. This combined with a 3-D mesh cover that keeps the user suspended above the ventilated foam, allows air to circulate and humidity and moisture to dissipate. The result is a pillow designed specifically for CPAP therapy users, but comfortable enough for anyone to enjoy.

I have used the CPAP Max since I started on the CPAP 4 months ago, so I have nothing to compare it with, except the standard pillows they use during the sleep studies. I like CPAP Max pillow. Yes, it smelled bad at first. Before ever using it I washed the cover in the washing machine, and air dried it. And, I let the foam air out completely out of doors, in the sun, which helped the pillow to "out gas" the smell. I haven't had a smell problem since. Anyway, with the CPAP mask on you don't smell anything that doesn't come out of the mask! I would to purchase a second zipper cover (so I can alternate more frequently while one is in the laundry), and also a fitted pillow case, but the reviewers for the slip cover indicate it needs design improvements. ContourLiving, certainly you know everyone who has purchased a CPAP Max? When you get the slip cover design worked out, why not send us each an e-mail letting us know? You may think this product is over-priced, but it is not when compared to a high quality down pillow, and it is a unique design with a limited market, so the price probably reflects the cost of manufacture, marketing, and sales, with some profit included. Is it a lot of $? Yes! Is it worth the money? Yes!

Like the idea but design is deceptive. If you look at the pictures on webpage the person is sleeping at the edge of the pillow not the center to accomodate the mask. Not happy with the product.

Had to remove the middle layer to be comfortable for me. Glad it came out. From looking at the design, I really thing the original would be more comorrtable. Too much money for product. Had to pay an extra $19.99 for the cover which does not fit as expected.

Just slept my first night with this pillow. Absolutely wonderful! I haven't slept that well since I've been using CPAP! The foam stinks, however, my experience with any memory foam is that it stinks when you first get it. I highly recommend.
