New Pillow Provides Mask Users with a More Cushioned, Supportive Surface and 5-Year Warranty

ATLANTA (Medtrade October 2008, Booth #757) – Contour Products™, a leader in the sleep support and ergonomic body comfort industry, introduces the upgraded, patented Contour CPAP Pillow, which ensures sleep apnea sufferers who use CPAP masks sleep comfortably and in compliance. This upgraded version of Contour’s best-selling sleep apnea pillow features an advanced, precise molded design made of high density poured foam. These updates provide a more cushioned, resilient and supportive sleeping surface. Like the previous best seller, the new Contour CPAP Pillow features hollowed-out sections on each of its lower sides, which accommodate all major brands and styles of CPAP masks and hoses.

The hollowed-out areas on the pillow help alleviate mask pressure against the face to dramatically improve comfort and help prevent mask leaks. These pressure-free mask zones allow CPAP patients to sleep on either their left or right side and even on their stomachs. A thicker cover with silky, quilted padding in the hollowed-out sections of the pillow and along the shoulder area ensures the mask and shoulders easily glide when users change positions at night. Soft velour covers the other areas.

“From both a comfort and compliance standpoint, sleeping on your side or stomach can be a real issue for someone who wears a CPAP mask,” says Scott Davis, president and CEO of Contour Products.

“Our updated design has an even more supportive and cushioned surface. And, the new material used for the cover helps CPAP patients move even more freely to get the full benefit of their equipment without having to sacrifice their favorite sleeping positions. Plus, we’ve backed this updated CPAP pillow with a 5-year warranty.”

Additional features of the Contour CPAP Pillow address key issues that affect patient compliance. Ergonomically designed head, neck and shoulder support reinforces comfort. Specifically molded spots for users’ ears to rest in when side sleeping provide added relief. And, the pillow’s inclined upper sides support the forehead to prevent patients from rotating downward and crushing the mask and hose.

A new accessory kit is also available. It includes a 1” booster to make the CPAP pillow thicker for larger users; a hose tether for increased hose control and handling; and a 6-foot matching quilted, zippered hose cover. An additional zip-off pillow cover is also available.

*Sleep apnea is a condition characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. When left untreated, the condition can result in high blood pressure and other cardiovascular complications that can sometimes be life threatening. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), more than 12 million Americans suffer from sleep apnea. The American Sleep Apnea Association identifies CPAP therapy as the most common treatment for the condition.
