Tips for Better Comfort in 2015

Bethaney Wallace on 29th Dec 2014

With the New Year comes all types of new goals and achievements to be made. There are adventures to create, improvements to make, happiness to strive toward, and a number of other personal goals. All of which stem from the coming of a new year, and therefore, a new start on what life has to offer.

So why not take that fresh take and make something productive out of it? No matter what personal items you’ve placed on your yearly bucket list, there are a few tactics that can help you achieve them. Such as being more efficient with tasks, eating better, or living an overall healthier lifestyle. Another such tactic is that of getting better sleep. When you’re well rested, life just tends to go better. You have more energy, are better rested to take on the day, and generally just have a better attitude toward life.

But just how does one receive better sleep? Without medicines or the intervention of a doctor? By better adjusting your sleeping setup and routine.

To achieve better rest:

Set a Schedule

The body is better able to wake and fall asleep with ease when it sticks to a set schedule. Consider going to bed and waking up at a set time each day to train the body to more quickly fall into deep and restful sleeps.

Adjust your “Equipment”

Do you wake with headaches? Back pains? Any other aspect of being uncomfortable? If so it’s time to adjust to a better set up, such as supportive pillows or mattress toppers. By hosting accessories that are specifically made to align and cushion the body, you can increase comfort with minimal work on your end.

There are all types of products available, meaning everyone can find the perfect setup for their bedroom and their sleeping habits.

Eat Early

Avoiding eating too close to bedtime so that the body has plenty of time to digest heavy meals. Going to bed with a full stomach can create an uncomfortable feeling, while also robbing the digestive system the help of gravity. Instead, eat a little earlier (or a lighter meal), to gain better sleep.

Get Some Exercise

When you’re not tired, at least body tired, it can be hard to drift off. If you sit for long periods of time or simply haven’t been stimulated throughout the day, consider getting in some exercise to help wear you out. Though it may not mean you’ve had a lazy day, it also means that movement will allow you to better sleep at night. Work in a quick walk or jog if you find yourself tossing and turning at night.

Avoid Excessive Alcohol

While drinking might be a great way to fall asleep for some, drinking too much can also work to keep you awake. Or deter the quality of sleep you’re able to achieve each night. Consider staying away from drinking too close to bedtime, or save it for nights you’re staying up later than usual to gain better rest.

All of the Above

Obviously, the best way to get better sleep on a consistent basis is to approach it from every possible angle. The more steps you take in order to gain better and consistent rest, the more likely you’ll be able to achieve it.

Remember these tips, and even experiment with a few of your own, in order to gain a well-rested year. With deeper sleep, you’ll be able to cross off all types of tasks off your list, including those that are most important to you throughout the upcoming year.
